Chiropractic Services FAQ

What is an adjustment? An adjustment is the term used to explain the chiropractic treatment. It is also known as a spinal manipulation. A chiropractor performs an adjustment with either their hands or with handheld tools. The chiropractic adjustment is performed specifically by chiropractors with at least four years of extensive experience and schooling in this type of treatment. Does the adjustment hurt? The adjustment is a painless procedure. If a person is already in pain, then any movement can of course be uncomfortable, but the adjustments are designed to ultimately reduce and eliminate the pain. Sometimes after your first adjustment, or if it's been a while since you've been adjusted, then you might experience a mild amount of soreness that goes away usually within several hours. What Makes the Sound During The Adjustment?Within most joints of the body there is fluid designed to lubricate the joint. Some adjusting methods can produce a sound when the gas and fluids in the joint shift. It's much like opening a bottle of champagne or removing a suction cup. The sound is interesting, but it isn't a guide to the quality or value of the adjustment. Is chiropractic adjustment safe?Chiropractic is widely recognized as one of the safest, drug-free, non-invasive therapies available for the treatment of headache, neck and back pain, and many other conditions. Chiropractic has an excellent safety record and current scientific research is only further proving the safety of chiropractic treatment. However, no health treatment is completely free of potential adverse effects. Even common over-the-counter medicines carry a risk. What If My Health Insurance Doesn't Cover Chiropractic?Your health is the only thing you truly own, it affects everything you do and everyone you know. It is your most valuable possession. It's convenient when an insurance company or third party helps pay the bill. But be careful! Don't allow the profit motive of a huge insurance company to make your health decisions for you. Once you see a chiropractor, do you have to go for the rest of your life? No. The extent to which you choose to benefit from your chiropractic care is ultimately up to you. Each & every one of us is solely responsible for the quality of our health & well-being. However, we do strongly urge all practice members to consider periodic, wellness chiropractic care. This is where the long-term, lasting benefits of care are enjoyed, and potential problems can be identified and dealt with before developing into more serious problems. Regular exercise & healthy eating habits are a lifestyle decision and so is lifetime, wellness chiropractic care. |
