Customized for pregnancy - Patti

I was being treated by Dr. Mairs before I found out that I was pregnant. After I became pregnant, Dr. Mairs customized my treatment plan. He started a series of stretching exercises that made my pregnancy so much easier. I felt great throughout my pregnancy and had an easy labor.

Neck Pain - Manda

I had never been to a chiropractor before seeing Dr. Mairs, so wasn't sure what to expect. I needed help with my tense neck, and was impressed with how much better I felt after only having him massage those muscles. After a few visits, I got enough courage for him to adjust my neck, and am very glad that I finally did. I was amazed at the instant results! I really appreciated not feeling forced to get my neck adjusted right away, but rather waiting and letting my trust and comfort level build till I was comfortable letting Dr. Mairs adjust my neck.

Rotator Cuff Strain – Beverly

As a senior citizen, I had become accustomed to life’s little aches and pains. But the simple chore of getting a dish down from the top shelf really put me out of commission. Lifting my arm to dress, comb my hair, apply makeup, or brush my teeth caused severe pain to radiate down my arm.
Self medication for the pain did not help, so I sought help from Dr. Mairs. He diagnosed rotator cuff strain. In his office, he adjusted all the surrounding areas and used soft tissue tools on the muscles in the area. Just as important, he gave me exercises to do at home and was very thorough in making certain I understood how to do each one. By the next visit, my condition had improved considerably, and I can honestly say my shoulder has improved to its pre-injury days.

Hip Pain Gone - Steve

Before coming to see Dr. Mairs I'd had pain in my hip for 3-4 years that caused me to walk with a heavy limp. I would get shooting pains in my hip that at times were so bad that I couldn't walk and would cause me to miss time from work. After being under Dr. Mairs' care, my hip feels better, to where I don't walk with a limp anymore. It's great, I feel great, I haven't felt better in years

Low back, Neck and Hip Pain Gone - Philip

I had low back, neck, and hip pain and stiffness that was limiting my movement and preventing me from participating in competition Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and other recreational sports

. I have been with Dr. Mairs for 4 months and he has earned my full trust. I am back competing in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and playing racquetball on a regular basis. I have recommended Dr. Mairs to people that I know who suffer from similar conditions.

Chronic Lower Back Pain Gone - Sharron

I had chronic lower back pain and had been told I had 2 choices either I would need surgery to relieve the pain or I could put up with it, which I did for over 7 years. Within a few weeks of seeing Dr. Mairs the pain was gone.  I recommend Dr Mairs to anyone before they consider back surgery.

Frozen shoulder Pain Relief  -  Kym

II had a frozen shoulder, which has caused constant pain for over 9 years; after only a few treatments I have 70% use back and no pain at all. The combination of deep tissue massage and SASTM treatments has gotten such awesome results I am completely confident that I will have full use of my shoulder in a matter of weeks. I have suggested my aunt see Dr. Andrew Mairs and definitely recommend him to anyone that has suffered persistent pain!

Foot numbness and exteme pain - Debra

I have had significant pain, numbness, and tingling in both feet for 7-10 years.  The problem was so bad that I avoided walking whenever possible, which contributed to my weight gain over the years. I had given up hope in getting relief from my foot pain because I felt that the lifetime of obesity had ruined my feet.  Dr. Mairs explained that it was possible that he could help with that as he had trained in several modalities designed for extremity (hands and feet) pain.

I was really skeptical about this because I had tried so many things, spending thousands of dollars on therapies such as custom orthotics, sports massage, gentle massage, essential oils, acupuncture, acupressure, and every concoction of snake oil that I would see advertised.  I had taken over-the-counter pain relievers (ibuprofen, Tylenol, aspirin), prescription pain medicine (ibuprofen 800, Tylenol with codeine) and my physician had even prescribed a medication designed for shingles, diabetes, and fibromyalgia pain (Lyrica), hoping that it would relieve my foot pain.  None of these therapies worked for any length of time.

I had been to a chiropractor a couple of times for minor back strains; I would say I had 4 chiropractic adjustments over a period of 25 years.  I didn’t think of chiropractic as a therapy that I believed or didn’t believe in; I just had not thought of it in terms of something I needed.  When Dr. Mairs suggested I try chiropractic for my feet, I thought, well, okay I don’t really have anything to lose after all, my feet hurt all the time anyway, so why not.  So it was with great skepticism that I made my first appointment with him in his office.

My first office visit set the stage for my future visits.  Dr. Mairs took a history of course, took some measurements of my legs and feet, and then did a general adjustment, not too involved.  He then used a series of instruments and a lubricating substance in a pressing and kneading motion all over both of my feet.  At first this was not very pleasant because my feet were so sensitive that I could hardly stand for him to use the pressure that he did.  But amazingly even after the first session, the pain that I had experienced for so long was virtually gone.  Now, the cessation of pain did not last for very long, maybe an hour or so, after the first session, but it was so wonderful for the pain to be gone that I was very happy.  I continued to see Dr. Mairs approximately once a week through the fall and winter, and every time I had a treatment with those soft tissue tools I could tolerate more, and the cessation of my pain would last longer.  At some point during my treatments, Dr. Mairs added a hip adjustment and hot pads to my upper back to the weekly therapy.  My visits generally lasted about an hour.  I understand that the therapy he performed had to do with breaking up scar tissue which had developed from years of abuse of my feet through obesity, bad shoes, and possibly other reasons.

After my last treatment my foot pain had decreased so much that I didn’t feel the need to return for weekly visits.  The pain returns occasionally, and that usually is the result of a pair of shoes that I’ve worn with too high heels or generally does not fit well.  I am very happy with the treatment I’ve received from Dr. Mairs.  He’s turned me into a believer of the benefits of chiropractic and that it’s “not just for backs.”  I will return to Dr. Mairs in the future for maintenance work because I think I do need that, and because he’s just too cute and funny to stay away from, and he has a darling son!
